This striking large-format poster was published by Achenbach Art Editions in 1991, reproducing Gerhard Richter's Merlin. The colourful abstract composition combines layered passages of paint with sharper marks, giving the square image a wonderful sense of movement. This is an offset reproduction of the artwork, rather than an original painting or signed edition.
Gerhard Richter's work moves between photographic imagery and abstraction, often questioning how much we can trust what an image appears to show. His varied approach has made him one of the most important and widely collected painters of the post-war period.
